Founders

Dimitri Slaverse, who is the founder of our group and holds the title of World Champion on the Trapeze, has performed worldwide in places such as Ringling Brothers in America, numerous TV circuses' and TV shows in Europe and in Monte Carlo for the Royal Family. He grew up in Hanover Park, a crime and gangster ridden township. Most recently on a few occasions he had to dodge hails of bullets whilst collecting and dropping of youngsters in the townships, and also during our performances in these townships. Dimitri has worked for over 29 years in the circus arts arena after a miraculous break in the dark era of South Africa. He spent 17 years working abroad for major shows and royalty.

Since 1995, along with Nicky (who is also the co-founder and circus artist) and other members, we have been pursuing our dream of having a circus school like the ones we have worked with and visited in other countries. We put all our money into a house and ground big enough to start the circus school, and after being self sufficient we have accumulated a lot of equipment, a large increase in students and received many complaints from our neighbours. In 2007 we left our garden and started the school at our own premises in the Observatory area.

Talented group

We have put together an elite and extremely talented group of performers. The group has been successfully performing at many major events e.g. many agricultural shows, Synergy, The Cape one City Festival, various events for the Mayor of Cape Town and the Department of Arts and Culture. We did a tour of Namibia, The Kalahari Festival in Upington, the Music Marathon in Malmesbury, the J & B Met and the Namakwa Festival in Springbok. The group has also appeared in various TV commercials, photographic shoots, corporate events, expo's and conferences. We performed at the annual Education Conference for Nelson Mandela and appeared on inside Africa on CNN news channel.

Community development

Our main objective is to provide an alternative community development, teaching people mainly from the disadvantaged areas for a career in circus performing arts. A first of it's kind in Africa, with the aim of producing world-class professional artists for major South African and International events and tours. Read more about our Training & Outreach work.
